Things to know for the Cider Festival:

1. Bring your own chair
2. Wear your BLUE shirt and BLACK bottoms
3. Arrive BY 3:00. We will set chairs as soon as we are able.
4. Park by the pavilion. Follow the little road like you did last year. (If you weren’t there last year, people will point you in the right direction.)
5. Performance time is 3:45

Thursday 10/2 – MAPS

2:30-4:00 Full Ensemble. Play through the show music (at least the stuff we didn’t play last Sunday) then Christmas music.

What a great concert yesterday. I thought we sounded really good and we got some very positive audience feedback!

There are some schedule modifications coming up at the end of October and the beginning of November.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29 …  @FEC

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5 … @FEC

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12 … @FEC

There will be NO rehearsal/lessons on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16.

WE WILL MEET instead on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17 at the church with our regular 5:00-8:00 schedule.

Thursday, Nov. 19 is the Tree Festival in the afternoon. That is in lieu of rehearsal that day.

Tonight:

5:00-6:00 … Lessons with Leslie, Clarinet Choir with Jim and Strings, book 1 and 3 with Cathy

6:00-7:30 … Strings with Cathy (Garfield music and other Christmas music bring old stuff and new stuff). Band with Leslie (Christmas music: please be sure to bring Fantasia on a Christmas Carol and Heard on High, both band only pieces)

7:30-8:00 … Full Ensemble – Christmas music

Greetings:

On Sunday, if you have a small or medium size instrument, please park on a side street as close as you can get to the gazebo and walk from there. Be down by the gazebo no later than 1:25. For people with large instruments, please meet at Barberton HS by 12:45 and condense yourselves and your equipment into as few vehicles as possible. We will leave the parking lot at 1:20 and caravan to the gazebo. Below are the driving directions we are to follow. THERE WILL BE CONGESTION NEAR THE GAZEBO because the Akron Symphonic Winds play before us and they also will be parked in that area. This has not been the situation in the past. At 1:30 they should be finished performing and will be clearing out. We will reconfigure the chairs to our liking and warm up ASAP. We will perform from 2:00 to approximately 2:30. We will clear the chairs after our performance.

Greetings:

Mum Festival – It was brought to my attention that people with larger instruments and people with mobility concerns usually caravan from Barberton High School to the gazebo area where there are reserved spots for us. I’m working on confirming that scenario for this year but just in case we don’t have (limited) reserved parking, my husband will help move instruments and people. I will keep you posted.

Tomorrow, Connie will have Winter Wonderland /Let it Snow for strings. We will be playing this selection with Garfield. Please take a look at it on your own. We will start practicing it next Monday, 9/28.

MUM FESTIVAL – 9/27 – Performance time 2:00. Call time is 1:15. Attire is blue shirts and denim bottoms. Akron Symphonic Winds plays before us. They will have chairs set up, but we will reconfigure them to our liking as soon as they are done. As soon as we have our chairs set, we will warm up. We perform at 2:00. Our performance can run no longer than 40 minutes. Below is our revised program. When we finish performing WE MIST CLEAR THE CHAIRS WE’VE USED. The next group needs to be able to start their show at 3:00.

6:00-8:00 … Full Ensemble – One run through of the Mum Festival program,  then Christmas music.

CONCERT AT JOHNSON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IS SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20th AT 2:00

We will be doing the MICHAEL STORY arrangement of SLEIGH RIDE

We will not be doing Christmas on Broadway this year

Tonight:

5:00-6:00 Lessons with Leslie. Strings with Cathy (books 1 and 3)

6:00-7:00 sectionals on Christmas music. Parts 1, 2 and 3 downstairs with Cathy. Parts 4, 5 and percussion upstairs with Leslie

7:00-8:00 Full Ensemble – Christmas Music and one run through of Glenn Miller Tribute and Salute

Tonight we are going to take a quick survey about what will work best for us collectively for the Johnson United Methodist Church concert. It seems many people have a conflict on Dec 13. The church would like a Sunday concert, if possible. That would have to be Sunday, Dec 20. Other possible dates are Tuesday December 15 or Thursday Dec 17, but it’s definitely  not their preference. December 6th was also a consideration, but I was concerned about doing 3 concerts in a row since we are already booked on the 4th and 5th. Please think about this and look at your calendar. We can’t give a good concert without most of us available.

5:00-6:00 … Jazz with Leslie

6:00-7:00 … Strings with Cathy, band with Leslie

7:00-8:00 … Full Ensemble  – Semper and Eagle (15 minutes max). The rest of the time will be spent on Christmas music.

Lastly, Elizabeth Schoolcraft (flute) has reached out looking for a ride to the Mum Festival concert. She lives in the Highland Square area. Her phone number is 330-814-6413. Please reach out to her if you are able to help.

Friday, December 4, Light the Boulevard in Kenmore. In partnership with Miller South School for the Arts – 6:00-9:00 performance time not yet determined

Saturday, December 5, Summit Mall – 2:00 performance

Wednesday,  Dec. 9, Strings with Garfield, 7:00 performance

Thursday, Dec. 10, Western Reserve Masonic Community – 7:00 performance

Johnson United Methodist Church – TBD, (should know by the end of this week)

All of this is in a shared Google calendar  that was the home page of our website. I’m not sure where it disappeared to. I will try to update our performance schedule on our website. If I’m not successful, it will have to wait until our webmaster returns from vacation.

Today, we will work on Invincible Eagle, Semper Fidelis and Christmas music.
