PRE-REGISTRATION FOR
CINCINNATI MUSIC CAMP
JUNE 16-21, 2024
New Horizons International Music Association (NHIMA) is excited to announce that pre-registration for the Cincinnati Music Camp at the Lawrenceburg Event Center in Lawrenceburg, Indiana (metro Cincinnati) will open for NHIMA members January 15th, 2024 at noon EST. WHAT CAN YOU DO NOW TO PREPARE FOR REGISTRATION?Mark your Calendar-
Pre-registrations will be accepted starting 12:00 PM (Noon) EST on
January 15th for NHIMA Members and January 29th for non-members of NHIMA.
Check your membership status-
In order to pre-register on January 15th, you will need to be a member of the international association, NHIMA.Not a member? You can join now by clicking here. If you are unsure of your membership status, you can contact nhimaoffice@gmail.com.
Where do I Pre-Register?
For NHIMA members, on the day of registration you will receive an email with the link to register or it can be found on our Camps Page on the website starting at noon on January 15th. The pre-registration link will go active at 12 PM EDT, January 15th. The link will take you to a pre-registration form. This form does not guarantee acceptance to the camp! Your membership with NHIMA will be confirmed and instrumentation will be evaluated before you are accepted. You will receive an email with your registration status within 48 hours of your pre-registration submission. Musicians on the waiting list will be notified as well.If you are accepted, the confirmation email will send you a link with payment details and Covid and cancellation policies. Once you pay, you will receive information on how to make housing reservations in the NHIMA block of rooms at the DoubleTree hotel. NHIMA looks forward to making new friendships and providing a great musical experience for all.

When our band lost Andy, we lost an amazing leader and volunteer. He handled the website, our tax returns, payroll, mail, banking and kept extremely orderly books; the best we’ve ever had.
Now, picking up from Andy:
We have an opening for a bookkeeper! This exciting position will follow in Andy’s footsteps and manage our books, files, etc.
This great position comes with the great appreciation from the board and accolades from all.
Benefits include the pleasure one gets from knowing he/she gets from providing a much needed service to a favorite organization. Additionally, most bookkeepers like to create and maintain good records; we can provide that opportunity!
This part-time position will require about 3-4 hours a month and a time and a location of our bookkeeper’s choosing.
Please let any board member know of your interest. We will shower you will appreciation and music.

We will be hosting a Christmas gathering Reflections on the Season: a program of select readings and music on Sunday, November 19 at 4PM performed by a local flute ensemble, the Supertonics. A cookie social will follow. Free admission. Please bring a canned good or personal item for the Blessing Box. A freewill offering will be taken up for the ensemble. All are welcome!

Thursday, September 28, 2023 Plain Local School Inducted Jim Adkins into the Plain Local Schools Hall of Distinction. Jim as an Alumni has distinguished himself and has exemplified his community and school system.

The Hearing and Aging Lab at Kent State University is again looking for participants for a research study conducted by Dr. Bruna Mussoi and assistant Riley Burke. It sounds like the same study I participated in last spring. It involves hearing tests, brief cognitive screening test, listening to tones, repeating words and sentences in quiet and noisy backgrounds and completing a series of tasks to help understand your listening skills, thinking skills and language abilities. Participation involves 2-3 visits to the lab, lasting 2-3 hours. Compensation will be provided ($10 per hour) and a parking pass may also be provided. I had an idea today to help myself get into the music more and see it with the dance or movie it is in to get a better feel for it. I thought maybe we could put the following on the website and let people know they are there for inspiration and ideas.
