Gene Rohrbough’s wife Linda

Linda Rohrbough (Jandecka), 69, passed away on September 13, 2017.

Born in Akron on December 7, 1947 to the late Clyde and Dorothy Jandecka, Linda was a 1965 graduate of Garfield High School. She graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. She worked for the University of Akron in Computer Services and retired in 2003. She was a member of Firestone Park Christian Church. Linda enjoyed cooking, reading, and spending time with her granddaughters.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Gene; son and daughter-in-law, Zach and Samantha Rohrbough; grand daughters, Adrianna and Isabella; siblings, David (Annabelle) Jandecka, Sally Jandecka, Sarah (Rick) Simmers, and Bill (Mary) Jandecka, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In Memory of Robert “Bob” W. Young (NHB WebSite Creator)

Robert W. “Bob” Young, 81, passed away July, 29, 2017. Born in Tulsa, Okla. to Ernest and Jewell (Johnston) Young, he had resided in Wadsworth since 2001. Bob was a retired United States Air Force veteran, reaching the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was a member of Akron First Assembly as well as the New Horizons Band. He loved Jesus, spending time with his family, golf, tennis and fishing. He also was passionate about music and enjoyed playing the saxophone, cello, guitar, piano and clarinet.In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by daughter, Katherine Suzanne and brother, Roger. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Ruth Ann; son, Mike (Sheila) of California; daughter, Lauri (Kent) Jarvis; grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob, Zachary, Benjamin, Sarah, Rachel (Matthew), Ryan (Monica), Kyle and Cullen; great-grandson, Jason; brother, Jerry (Rita); and other loving family and friends.

14 July 2012 – Lawn Chair Concert at the Levee in Newport, KY

Lawn chair concert part 1 – The New Horizons Bands of Cuyahoga Falls along with a few other Ohio NH members play a Lawn Chair concert at the levee at Newport, KY (across the Ohio River from Cincinnati) Sat evening July 14 2012. Heavy wx approaching during the performance caused the set list to be shortened but intermittent raindrops did make for some challenging changes as some musicians were not sitting under the canopy initially.

NHIMA SUMMER TOUR SITE 20TH YEAR CELEBRATION 20th Anniversary DR. ROY ERNST, GUEST CONDUCTOR

The Summit and Stark County Chapter of New Horizons International Music Association was pleased to host a special Summer Tour 20th anniversary in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the founding of New Horizons Music.

The Honorable Mayor of Cuyahoga Falls, Don L. Robart, presented sponsor Jim Stahl, of Central Instrument Company an official proclamation declaring June 6th, “New Horizons Day” in Cuyahoga Falls. Founder Dr. Roy Ernst served as guest conductor of over 90 wind, percussion, and string members representing four New Horizons organizations in Ohio.

Other special quests included Jerry Welty, President/Chairman of The Welty Family Foundation and members of the Cuyahoga Falls City Council. Guest vocalists, Rachel Morrison, and Kyle Kelvington helped make the 20th anniversary finale a special moment as Roy conducted a stirring arrangement of “God Bless America”. We look forward to next summer when our ensemble will be part of the Cuyahoga Falls Bicentennial Celebration.
