Ode to the Trombone

An instrument
with high class sound,
there is no other
to be found.

It’s marvellous
and shiny too,
in any band
it’s sound comes true,

For an instrument
above the rest,
it’ll help you out
when you feel stressed.

Just play it then
when you feel mad,
and watch that mood
turn right to glad.

The only thing
is slide with care,
for it may get caught
in someone’s hair.

But that is of
a little worry,
since our sound
will make them scurry.

For our brass
in its perfection,
is the highlight
of the section.

Yes trombones are
the best of all,
making all the others
seem so small!

FAT TUESDAY EVENT

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been missing going to the Houston Pub and listening to the Dukes of Darrowville. I especially miss having the night out with my NH buds. So I was thrilled when I found out they will be playing Tuesday March 4th 7-9 pm at the Jenks Building on 1886 Front Street in Cuyahoga Falls. What could be better than Dixieland music on Mardi Gras? There will be plenty of food and drinks. A matter of fact, Da Bayou Food Truck will be there starting at 5:00.

Hope to see lots of you there! The more, the merrier!

LOST AND FOUND

When I was leaving rehearsal tonight I found a silver case with glasses on the stairs. The glasses are gold framed and the says “Joan Collins” on the front. Inside is a green cleaning cloth that says “Zenni” on it. If you need these before practice on Thursday, give me a call or a text and perhaps I can meet you somewhere. My phone number is (330)612-5542.

January 25th IMPORTANT REMINDER! ANNUAL MEETING!

Good evening, Music Lovers!! Just a couple or three or four or five reminders about Monday’s IMPORTANCE!! It’s Annual Business Meeting Night! 5:00 – Orientation Class; 5:20 – Jim’s Rhythm Class; 6:00 – Annual Business Meeting; 7:00 – String Ensemble downstairs, Band Upstairs. The opening of the Business Meeting requires two steps as you enter the room: 1). Print your name on the attendance list and 2). Return your autographed music for the “Christmas on Broadway” selection. Please do not enter the room until I open the door. Please do not take your instruments out of your cases until rehearsals start at 7:00. Returning the signed John Higgens charts is a very important part of this evening’s rehearsal. It will help us take a double check on attendance which is a very important part of the evening. Again, please PRINT your name at the top of the first page. Please take a seat quickly and quietly so that we may start on time (6:10). IT’S NOT NECESSARY FOR YOU TO SIT IN YOUR NORMAL PLACE IN THE BAND SET UP DURING THE MEETING. String members choose 1). enter with coats and instruments, 2). take them downstairs first, 3). hang coats on rake and place instruments in cases in front of the Sanctuary doors. Please PRINT your name on the attendance lists as you enter the room.

We have much to share with you with respect to the plans for 2025, and are excited to explain the importance of ” BRINGING A FRIEND”.
