DAVE BANKS BIG BAND

One of our members wanted this event to be posted. They will be playing at the Goodyear Theater this Sunday December 17 at 3 pm. Tickets are now between $25-$35. Apparently Dave Banks played in Vegas for 20 yrs. Don Truso is also playing in this. Perhaps some of you know of him.

1:12 pm WRMC CONCERT HAS BEEN CANCELLED 12/8/23

Membership! Due to a rise in Covid cases in the Medina area the Western Reserve Community has been placed under quarantine. Therefore, our Concert performance this evening has been cancelled. Rescheduling early in the New Year may become a possibility. This preventative decision was made minutes before this posting and is not only intended to prevent exposure to the residents but also to our membership and audience. PLEASE HELP US MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE GETS THIS MESSAGE! We will be trying to contact everyone by phone, text, and Email. Please contact your friends and pass the word along! I’m sure multiple contact are better than missing someone!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND HELP! HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND YOURS!

Help Wanted – Bookkeeper Needed

When our band lost Andy, we lost an amazing leader and volunteer. He handled the website, our tax returns, payroll, mail, banking and kept extremely orderly books; the best we’ve ever had.

Now, picking up from Andy:

  • Diana Duke, Flute, accepted responsibility for our website.
  • Harvey Jackson, French Horn, accepted responsibility for our tax returns.
  • Sandy Bee Lynn, Violin, has become our mail and banking person.
  • Jim Atkins, Musical Director, is managing payroll.

We have an opening for a bookkeeper! This exciting position will follow in Andy’s footsteps and manage our books, files, etc.

This great position comes with the great appreciation from the board and accolades from all.

Benefits include the pleasure one gets from knowing he/she gets from providing a much needed service to a favorite organization. Additionally, most bookkeepers like to create and maintain good records; we can provide that opportunity!

This part-time position will require about 3-4 hours a month and a time and a location of our bookkeeper’s choosing.

Please let any board member know of your interest. We will shower you will appreciation and music.

Your board members,

Jim Atkins, Jim Stahl, Sandy Bee Lynn, Roger Ramstahler, Carrie Cunningham, Marilyn Katzmark, Kathy Jesser, Lee Nielsen.

CHRISTMAS FOR INSTRUCTORS

Hi Fellow New Horizon Members:

It’s been another exciting year for New Horizons, full of practices, improvements, performances, and even paid performances. I can’t even believe the holidays are creeping up on us.

First of all, I just want to thank all of you who either attended the 1st E. C. Church Harvest Home dinner, or donated money towards this year’s project. The church truly appreciates your generosity.

Secondly, this time of year also means showing our appreciation for our instructors. As a Christmas gift, we ask members to make whatever contribution they feel comfortable with. We will be presenting them with their monetary gift at the last rehearsal on Monday December 4. They do so much for us! It’s not just practices and performances. It’s scheduling performances, making connections in the community, keeping us financially afloat, moving equipment, writing up music parts … and much of it is unpaid. The list goes on and on. So let’s show Jim, Bev, and Cal how much we love and appreciate them.

You can either give your money to myself, Marilyn Katzmark, or Kathy Jesser. If you prefer to mail it to one of us, our addresses are the following: Marilyn Katzmark, 2058 Lavada Drive, Akron, OH 44312, and Kathy Jesser, 2943 Pepper Hill Circle, Akron, OH 44312.

So, I hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s , full of God’s blessings.

Marilyn Katzmark
