8/20 MAPS

Happy Thursday.

2:30-4:00 … MAPS -full ensemble

We will primarily work on holiday music. We will touch on the beginning  of God Bless the USA and we will conclude rehearsal with Semper Fidelis.

On Monday, be prepared to work on Screaming Eagle in sectionals. The sectional will be the last hour, from 7-8. I’ll give more details in Monday’s post.

See you soon,

Cathy

Monday 7/17 (Tree Festival info below)

5:00-6:00 … Lessons with Leslie, Clarinet Choir with Jim, Strings with Cathy, (books 1 and 3)

6:00-8:00 … Semper Fidelis, Invincible Eagle, God Bless the USA and Christmas music.

On August 30, at Emanuel UCC, we will do the exact same program that we did last Thursday at WRMC.

I would like to trade out Liberty Bell for Invincible Eagle for the Mum Festival and the Cider Festival. That’s the goal!!

We will be playing at the John S Knight Tree Festival on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19 at 3:00. Mark your calendar. (I anticipate returning to our normal, Sunday spot in 2027.) This does not flow with our current alternating Thursday pattern, so make sure you realize that. I can tell you that our dates are solid through Monday, Oct. 26. Then, for Thursdays, it’s going to get wonky somewhere. I will sort it out ASAP.

I currently have a call out to Summit Mall and Johnson United Methodist Church for possible performances.  I’m open to suggestions if you have a potentially viable idea.

Please bring in your ACME receipts.

Cathy

Also a word about our current fundraiser. This is EASY and costs you nothing extra! Please save your Acme grocery store receipts if you shop there. Please bring those recipes to rehearsal. Bring them weekly, bring them monthly or whatever is convenient for you. Remember, this costs you nothing ‘extra’ and we will financially benefit. Ask your extended family and friends to save their receipts for you too. I texted people who I know shop at Acme and asked if they would save their receipts. All happily said yes. This fundraiser started August 1st and runs through the end of December.

Thanks!!

Cathy

No Christmas Jubilee

Don’t worry about Christmas Jubilee. I decided not to do that one this year because there are LOTS of missing parts. I forgot to pull it off the list. Don’t ask for it, and if you do ask, you won’t get it…lol.

Monday 8/3

Greetings,

There is lots of info below tonight’s schedule. Please read it as it will explain how to get music that some people have and others don’t.

5:00-6:00 … Strings with Cathy (Book 3 and questions about current music) and Clarinet Choir with Jim

6:00-8:00 … Full Ensemble

Below is the current list of this year’s holiday music. It is numbered. If there is a piece that you don’t have, TEXT Connie and tell her the NUMBER of the piece or pieces you are missing.  This is way too much music for her to schlep around to every rehearsal. She will pull your request and bring it to you as soon as she is able. Again, use the NUMBER associated with the piece you want. Do not send titles. Connie’s phone number is 330-697-0067.

1. A Jazzy Christmas
2. All Want for Christmas is You (BAND ONLY)
3. Angels We Have Heard on High
4. Brazilian Sleigh Bells
5. Charlie Brown Christmas
6. Christmas on Broadway
7. Christmas Jubilee
8. Christmas Song (Chestnuts)
9. Do You Hear What I Hear
10. Fantasia on a Christmas Carol (BAND ONLY)
11. Hanukkah Dance
12. It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
13. It’s the most Wonderful Time of the Year
14. Let it Snow
15. Nativity
16. Polar Express
17. Silent Night
18. Sleigh Ride – arr. Anderson (goal)
19. Sleigh Ride – arr. Story (back-up plan)
20. White Christmas

Lastly, in A Jazzy Christmas, we are adding a repeat. Measures 84 through 101 will be played twice. The first time it will be played by part 5 and Herman only. (Maybe drums too, I’m not sure.) When we repeat, we will play it as written with everyone.

I will go over all of this tonight.

See you later.

Cathy

Thursday 7/30

I’d like to read through this music shortly,  so set it aside. I’ll tell you when to start bringing it.

There will be a Chanukah song or two as well, but I haven’t delved into that yet.

Just a reminder that our next concert is Thursday, August 13 at Western Reserve Masonic Community. It is an outdoor concert at 7:00 p.m. (It will be indoors if it’s bad weather.) Call will be around 6:00/6:15. We are getting well paid for this performance and need as much participation as possible. Chairs will be provided. This concert is in lieu of rehearsal that evening.

Lastly, I will post the September and October MAPS dates shortly, but we are alternating as expected at least through mid October.

Thanks,

Cathy
